Only Six Months Granted: How a Russian Entrepreneur Secured a Residence Permit Extension

Client Background
Our client is a Russian entrepreneur who established his own company in China. He initially obtained a one-year work permit, but his work-type residence permit was granted for only six months.
As the company began operating, he needed to extend his residence permit to match the expiration date of his work permit, giving him the stability to continue developing the business in China.
The Challenge
The residence permit was approaching its expiration date while the work permit still had a considerable period remaining. The extension application therefore had to be prepared and submitted before the client’s legal stay expired.
Because the company was newly established, its operating history was limited. The application needed to demonstrate genuine business activity through company records, bank transactions, tax payments, social insurance contributions, office premises and commercial contracts. With supporting documents coming from several sources, the preparation window was tight.
How We Helped
We immediately prepared a complete document checklist and reviewed the company’s operating records, bank statements, tax payment certificates, social insurance records and office lease agreement.
To strengthen the evidence for the newly established company, we helped the client add business contracts and a clear written explanation of the company’s actual operations.
We also confirmed the current submission requirements with the relevant Exit-Entry Administration department and planned the schedule around the residence permit’s expiration date. The complete application was submitted before the deadline.

The Result
The client’s residence permit was successfully extended to match the expiration date of his work permit.
He can now continue operating his company in China with greater stability and without the immediate pressure of another residence permit application.
