WISS Students Mark Meaningful Milestones

As a top 2% IB school globally, WISS showed this semester that great results come from helping every student find their voice.
One of the best moments was seeing a Grade 12 student from Japan deliver a fluent, powerful speech at graduation—despite having arrived four years ago knowing only one phrase in English.
The school’s focus on growth was also evident in the younger grades. Grade 5 students finished their year with a special project on student wellbeing, exploring how to stay healthy and happy while learning.
Meanwhile, Grade 10 students continued their dedicated work supporting children with disabilities—a project that grew from a school trip to Sanya into a long-term commitment.
The season ended with the 'Crossing the Bridge' ceremony, where the whole school lined up to cheer for the youngest students moving into Primary.
It was a perfect reminder that while WISS students aim high, they do so with the support of a community that celebrates every step of their journey.
NAIS Pudong's 2026 MIT Challenge
AI can generate answers. But can it imagine what doesn’t yet exist?
Creativity isn’t about finding the right answer. It’s about exploring possibilities, testing ideas, learning from failure, and trying again.
Through Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong's collaboration with MIT, students are challenged to solve real-world problems that don’t come with a ready-made solution.
This year’s objective was simple yet powerful: demonstrate how teamwork can achieve what individuals cannot accomplish alone.
Sarah H., above, one of NAIS Pudong's 2026 MIT Challenge winners, reflected on the experience:
"There wasn't one correct answer. We had to keep changing our ideas and learning from what didn't work."
In an AI-driven world, the ability to imagine, create, and innovate will matter more than ever.
That is why learners must be challenged to aim high—and given the right opportunities, like the MIT Challenge, to think creatively, solve boldly, and bring original ideas to life.
AI can generate. But young people still need to imagine. And that is where real learning lies.
Concordia Students Raise Over ¥22,000 for CWEF at Phoenix Fair
Grade 5 students at Concordia International School Shanghai raised more than RMB22,000 for the Concordia Welfare Education Foundation (CWEF) through their Phoenix Fair, a student-run marketplace held near the end of the semester.
What began as a classroom project became a lesson in entrepreneurship, empathy, and generosity.
Students designed, marketed, and sold their own products—with all profits directed to CWEF’s work supporting rural children in need across China.
The Phoenix Fair is one expression of a service partnership between Concordia and CWEF that spans more than 20 years, during which Concordia students have taught, built, and volunteered alongside communities in Yunnan Province and beyond.

Future Forward: SSIS Takes TEDx to New Heights
SSIS took the Performing Arts Centre stage by storm in June, delivering a dynamic second event under the evocative banner 'Beyond the Horizon.'
Held as part of the school's 30th anniversary celebrations, the TEDx Event showcased a compelling mix of student orators, seasoned educators, and a headline-grabbing guest: photographer and artist Haibo Xiao.
Founder of HAIPI Studio and LEAZON, Xiao challenged the young audience to take control of their destinies in his talk 'Design Your Own Future,' urging them to pair passion with persistence.
Building on the momentum of last November's full-house 'At the Moment,' this edition proved SSIS isn't just honouring its legacy—it is actively cultivating the changemakers of tomorrow.
From thought-provoking speeches to a palpable buzz in the auditorium, the event underscored the power of community dialogue and the boundless potential of international education in Shanghai.
