A video shows that within a section of road surrounded by barriers, there was an obvious depression in the pavement. Many staff members were present at the scene, and some construction facilities were piled nearby. Soon after, the road began to collapse rapidly—the pavement sank underground, and a temporary site cabin beside it also fell into the pit. The collapse continued to expand, and surrounding staff quickly moved away.
After the dust cleared, the pit appeared to reveal damaged underground pipelines, with water continuously spraying into the collapsed hole from the pipe.
The video uploader said the incident occurred near Qixin Road Metro Station in Shanghai. Amap (Gaode Map) showed that roads near Qixin Road and Li'an Road, as well as around Li'an Road and Likang Road, had been closed.
On the night of February 11, Shanghai Shentie released a situation report stating that at around 10:30 a.m. on February 11, 2026, during construction at the receiving end of the right-line section between Qixin Road Station and Xinjian Road Station, a localized leakage occurred. The on-site command center immediately activated an emergency plan and was handling the leakage point. No casualties were reported.
On February 12, a reporter learned from a nearby shop owner that the road collapse happened around 8–9 a.m., and they had already closed their business.
Also, due to closure measures on parts of Qixin Road and Li'an Road, motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles, and pedestrians were prohibited from passing. Several bus routes adopted temporary detours, including Route 91, Route 125B, Route 173, Route 189, Route 196, Route 759, Hongqiao Hub Route 4, Hongqiao Hub Route 5, Minhang Route 33A, Minhang Route 33B, and Minhang Route 55.
