China's 2026 Spring Festival holiday will be the longest on record, giving workers a full nine days to celebrate the Year of the Horse.
According to the official holiday schedule released by the General Office of the State Council, the break will run from February 15 to February 23 — starting on the 28th day of the lunar calendar (a Sunday) and ending on the seventh day of the new year (a Monday).
The catch? Two make-up workdays are required:
Saturday, February 14 (working day)
Saturday, February 28 (working day)
For millions of workers, this means more time to return to their hometowns. For travelers, it opens up possibilities for longer domestic or international trips during what is already China's busiest travel season — Chunyun, or Spring Festival travel rush.
