The current round of testing will evaluate different technical methods across common usage scenarios and performance goals, with the objective of building early prototype systems.
Chinese policymakers have placed 6G high on the agenda for future industrial growth, and the technology has already been written into the country's medium- and long-term development strategies.
During the first stage, China produced more than 300 major research outcomes, providing a solid foundation for the next steps.
The overall 6G testing plan is divided into three phases. Following the current solution-focused trials, the final stage will shift toward full network-level testing and the creation of pre-commercial equipment.
At the regional level, several areas are preparing for the next wave of 6G development.
For example, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area has rolled out local policies aimed at combining 6G with fields such as self-driving vehicles, AI-driven robots, and virtual reality.
This phase of the program will concentrate on boosting device performance across different use cases, expanding shared testing platforms, and pushing forward key components like chips.
Looking ahead, China is expected to begin early commercial applications of 6G around 2030, with wider rollout likely to follow later, although no official schedule has been confirmed.
