A U.S.-Korean engineer was arrested in Hong Kong for flying a drone near PLA Navy ships in a restricted area.

Hong Kong media reported on October 3 that a 52-year-old U.S. citizen of Korean descent was arrested for flying a drone near a restricted area as the PLA Navy ships Qi Jiguang and Yimengshan departed Victoria Harbour.

According to police, at 10:24 a.m., they received a report that someone was operating a drone near the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, a designated no-fly zone. Officers quickly arrived at the scene, controlled the situation, and began investigating the man.

Preliminary checks indicate that the individual, an engineer working in Hong Kong, violated drone regulations. He has been taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
