NAIS Pudong students from Year 9 to Year 12 recently returned from a life-changing community service project in Tanzania, supporting those most in need by assisting in the construction of schools, animal storage facilities, and setting up power supplies for families who had never had access to it before.
Not only did the students learn a huge amount about themselves, but they also gained a much better understanding of the dire situations in which others find themselves around the world.
The project – made possible by being part of the Nord Anglia network – also included an opportunity for the students to join a safari alongside students from five other schools in the network.

BISS Phonics Day
Phonics Day was a wonderful celebration of literacy for the Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 pupils at BISS, filled with meaningful activities and joyful learning experiences.
The children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up to represent phonics sounds, inspiring curiosity and laughter as classmates eagerly guessed the sounds represented by their creative costumes; there were superheroes, Harry Potters, pirates, and even a telephone making their phonics come to life!
The excitement continued with a phonics-themed scavenger hunt around the playground, where pupils actively searched for phonics sounds and recorded their discoveries, promoting sound recognition and collaborative learning.

Shanghai French School Unlock Learning Potential with Cognitive Sciences
How do memory, attention, and motivation shape the way students learn? Cognitive sciences provide valuable insights that are transforming education.
At Shanghai French School, teachers are trained to integrate these principles into their teaching, helping students thrive at both primary and secondary levels.
Last month, the teachers attended a training session with Jean-Luc Berthier, a leading researcher in cognitive sciences, to explore how certain techniques can further enhance student success.
Boosting Retention: Research shows that without review, students forget information quickly. Spaced repetition and concept mapping are used to reinforce learning over time and deepen understanding.
Clarifying Complex Concepts: Breaking lessons into smaller steps, using visual aids, and avoiding information overload help make challenging topics more accessible.
Enhancing Motivation & Focus: Practical strategies, such as collaborative projects linking classroom learning to real-world applications, keep students engaged.
The Shanghai French School remains committed to innovative, research-backed teaching methods — ensuring every student benefits from the latest advancements in learning science.
