Chinese Student Allegedly Abused Before Death in California"

(The official notice from the website of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles)

A 23-year-old Chinese student, Zhuang Menghan, was found dead at her off-campus home on February 4. Before her death, she posted on social media accusing her boyfriend of abuse, but the post was later deleted. In the post, she said he mistreated her, lied a lot, and tried to send her to jail, even though she thought it was true love.

Zhuang, also known as Emily King, was a student at the California Institute of the Arts. A coroner's report confirmed she died from multiple injuries.

Her boyfriend, who is much older and reportedly the CEO of an art company, was said to be involved in her life in a negative way. A friend noted that Zhuang had been acting differently on social media since dating him and avoided talking about him.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department believes a male suspect may have killed Zhuang, and he possibly left through her bedroom window after her death. Authorities are asking for help to identify this suspect.

Zhuang had been missing from school for a week before her death was confirmed. Her family arrived in Los Angeles, and both the school and the Chinese consulate are helping with the situation.
