In a hilarious twist of events, a young boy in Lanzhou, Gansu province, decided to take matters into his own hands during the Lunar New Year by calling the police to report a "robbery"—but the "bad guy" he was accusing turned out to be none other than his dad.
The child, whose age was not disclosed, had a very serious complaint: his father had kept the lucky money from his red packet, a customary Lunar New Year gift from relatives. Upset over this, the boy used his father's mobile phone to dial emergency services, claiming that a thief had taken his money.
When the police arrived, the boy cheerfully pointed to his dad and declared, "Uncle Police, you came so quickly! Please arrest this bad person!" The father, realising his son's prank, apologised to the officers, saying, "I didn't expect he'd actually call the police."
Police mediation immediately resolved the dispute between the father and son. The officers kindly instructed the boy that he could let his father hold onto the money but should keep track of his expenses if he needed anything. They also suggested that the father work on improving his educational approach to parenting.
And so, the case of the "robbed red packet" was closed—but not before providing a good laugh for everyone involved. After all, not every day does the police get called over a Lunar New Year tradition!
