According to the NIA of China, 452,000 foreigners have entered China through the visa-free policy from January 2013 to September 2019. 100,000 of these were in 2018, which is an increase of 24% compared with 2017. What's new for the airports already included?
1. Time extension
From December 1, the transit visa-free stay time of eligible foreigners at Chongqing and Xi'an air ports will be extended to 144 hours.
2. Port integration
The new regulations will implement a 144-hour visa free transit policy at Ningbo airport, which will also be integrated into Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai policies. Travelers can enter or leave through Ningbo airport, Shanghai sea / land / air ports that has implemented 144-hour visa free transit policy, as well as Nanjing airport and Hangzhou airport.
3. Scope expansion
The new regulations will expand the 144-hour visa free stay of Chengdu airport to 11 cities including Chengdu, Leshan, Deyang, Suining, Meishan, Ya'an, Ziyang, Neijiang, Zigong, Luzhou and Yibin
Applicable cities and ports
23 cities and 30 ports in 18 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) will be applicable for the new policy.
1. 20 cities of the 144-hour visa free policy
27 ports in 20 cities have implemented the 144-hour visa-free policy for foreigners crossing the border, and implemented regional and port linkage in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Yangtze River Delta.
