Client Background
Our client is a French national working in Shanghai and a long-term AnyHelper client. He needed to renew both his work permit and his work-type residence permit.
With an overseas trip scheduled for October 20, he needed the process arranged carefully so that his passport would be available in time for departure.

The Challenge
The renewal period overlapped with the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7, leaving fewer official working days before the client’s planned trip. Any delay in the work permit stage could have affected the residence permit submission and his passport schedule.
At the same time, the company’s previous office lease expired in September and the business was relocating. The client needed to know whether the new lease should take effect immediately and how the address change could affect the application.
How We Helped
We started the application on September 14 and scheduled the offline document verification for September 18. The work permit renewal was then submitted and the new work permit was obtained on September 23—within five working days of the offline verification.
We reviewed the lease situation and explained the available options. Based on the application schedule, the client chose to make the new office lease effective immediately so the supporting company information could be prepared without holding up the renewal.
On September 28, our team accompanied the client to the Exit-Entry Administration office and submitted the residence permit extension application. The application was accepted and an official receipt was issued, bringing this stage to completion before the holiday period.
The Result
From starting the case to obtaining the residence permit application receipt, the coordinated process took 14 calendar days, or 10 working days. The work permit renewal itself was secured within five working days of the offline verification.
With the work permit approved and the residence permit application formally accepted, the client’s renewal remained on schedule ahead of his October 20 travel plan.
Permit renewals become more time-sensitive when public holidays, international travel and company-information changes overlap. If you are facing a similar deadline, contact our consultant early so we can review your dates, documents and submission sequence.
