A woman became trapped between a Shanghai Metro train and the platform screen doors after reportedly rushing to board as the doors were closing.
The incident happened at around 7:10am on September 15 at Dashijie Station on Line 8.
She Rushed Toward the Closing Doors
A witness surnamed Sun said the woman appeared to be in a hurry as she came down to the platform.
The warning lights were already flashing when she ran toward the train. The doors closed just as she tried to board, leaving her trapped in the narrow space between the train doors and the platform screen doors.
Sun estimated that she remained there for around one minute.
Passengers inside the train and on the platform were shocked. Some called for help, while one man reportedly considered using a tool to break the glass before Metro employees arrived.
Emergency Stop Activated
Shanghai Metro said a station employee immediately activated the emergency stop button after noticing what had happened.
The driver then reopened and closed the train doors, allowing the passenger to escape. No injuries were reported.

Three Similar Incidents in Less Than a Month
It was not the city’s only recent case involving passengers attempting to enter trains as the doors were closing.
On September 11, an elderly passenger rushing to board during the morning peak became trapped outside the platform screen doors at Zhenping Road Station. Metro employees stopped an approaching train and freed the passenger.
On August 23, another passenger forced their way toward a closing train at Century Avenue Station on Line 2 and became trapped between the two sets of doors. Staff pressed the emergency stop button before rescuing the passenger.
Never Rush the Doors
When the warning lights begin flashing and the alarm sounds, passengers should not attempt to enter or leave the train.
The platform doors and train doors are separate. A passenger who forces their way through at the last moment may end up trapped in the space between them.
Missing one train may cost a few minutes. Rushing the doors can put your life—and the safety of other passengers—at risk.
