The report states that on the night of August 23, Thai police received a report that a foreign woman (later confirmed to be a Chinese citizen) was attacked in Kamphaeng Phet Province.
After receiving the report, police found the injured woman at the scene and sent her to the hospital. Thai media reported that the 29-year-old Chinese woman originally planned to go to Singapore to pursue a master's degree. Before that, a "friend" she met through social media advised her to visit Thailand for a few days first and told her that a car would be arranged to pick her up after arrival.

According to what the woman provided to the police, the contact was a Chinese living in Singapore. In the past, the two sides mainly communicated by phone and online and had never met in person.
The woman said that on the 23rd, a suspect claiming to be a tour guide picked her up at a hotel in Bangkok and picked her up in a vehicle, after which three more men boarded. Realizing she had been scammed, she tried to resist but was snatched away, her hands were tied, and she was beaten.
The vehicle then headed toward the Thai border area, entered Kamphaeng Phet city, and passed through a checkpoint. The officers signaled the vehicle to be inspected, and the woman desperately cried for help. The police noticed something unusual inside the car and asked the driver to stop, but the driver suddenly accelerated and rushed past the checkpoint.
Taking advantage of the vehicle slowing down or chaos inside, the woman seized the opportunity to jump out of the car and ran to a nearby shop for help. When she jumped out of the car to escape, her hands were still bound with plastic zip ties.
After receiving the report, police tracked the facility vehicle along the highway, hitting its tire during the chase, forcing it to stop. Four men abandoned the car and fled into a roadside woodland.
Two suspects were arrested at the scene: 41-year-old Somkiat and 24-year-old Kittiporn. Two more men, aged 41 and 22, were arrested on August 24. One was from Mae Sot, while the other was from the border area of Tak Province, bringing the total number of arrests to four.
The suspects reportedly admitted to picking up the Chinese woman from a hotel in Bangkok and allegedly planned to take her to Mae Sot District in Tak Province, near the Thailand-Myanmar border.
Police said the case may be linked to a cross-border human trafficking network. The group allegedly used people online to gain victims’ trust, arranged cars to transport them, and had others control and escort the victims toward the border.
Investigators are now trying to identify the people who allegedly tricked the victim online and uncover others who may be part of the network in Thailand.
