A video captured a man in a black short-sleeved shirt who had reached a complete emotional breaking point while accompanying his pregnant wife for a prenatal check-up. The source of his distress was the discovery that the physician performing his wife's ultrasound was male.

The footage shows the man visibly agitated, shouting to anyone within earshot that he could no longer stay in the marriage. "I can't live with this, getting divorced tomorrow," he yelled repeatedly. While another man in black tried to restrain him and calm him down, the husband eventually broke free and charged toward the hospital's inquiry desk, physically striking the structure in his frustration.

Following the incident, the hospital addressed the situation on March 27 to clarify the events and reassure the public. A staff member noted that the outburst was not classified as a medical dispute. After the consultation was finished, hospital personnel focused on comforting the pregnant wife, who was caught in the middle of the scene. The couple has since left the premises. While the hospital declined to share specific personal details due to privacy concerns, they emphasized that their staff includes both male and female doctors, though female physicians make up the majority.

The hospital's Prenatal Diagnosis Center later explained that patients have a significant amount of agency when it comes to the gender of their attending physician. In the registration system, patients can usually see the doctor's gender through their profile photo before booking an appointment. If a patient or their family feels uncomfortable with a male doctor, they are encouraged to specifically select a female doctor during the registration process or simply request a change during the examination.

The hospital also stated that doctors do not view patients through the lens of gender, but rather as individuals in need of care. However, they acknowledge that personal comfort levels vary, and the option to switch to a female doctor is always on the table for those who prefer it.

The incident has triggered a wave of reactions across Chinese social media, with many expressing deep concern for the wife's well-being. One netizen wrote bluntly, "I hope they really get divorced," reflecting a sentiment shared by many who viewed the husband's behavior as an extreme overreaction. Others pointed out the potential for future domestic friction, with one popular comment stating, "Getting divorced is the only way to be safe; otherwise, he will definitely use this as an excuse to cause trouble later." As the debate intensified, many users criticized the man's outdated perspective, noting that "even though it's the 21st century, some people's thinking is stuck in the past."
