The stage was set at NAIS Pudong as the China Regional Battle of the Bands Festival brought together six school bands from across China for two high-energy days of live music.
From the first rehearsal to the final performance, the campus was buzzing with sound, creativity and collaboration.
Each band took on a required track and a song of their own choice, pushing boundaries and stepping confidently outside their comfort zones.
Guided by a student-led creative process, musicians experimented, collaborated and brought fresh ideas to the stage.
Beyond the amps and applause, the festival was about connection. Students supported one another, shared ideas and celebrated every performance.
Finishing with a well-earned third place, NAIS Pudong was proud to be part of an unforgettable celebration of talent, teamwork and the power of live music!
WISS Student's Sustainable LEGO Aviation Project
Driven by a growing fascination with aviation and an enduring passion for building, Andrea—a student at WISS—set out to construct a sustainable airplane model using only repurposed LEGO pieces from old sets.
It began with a research phase, seeking online information about aviation mechanics, such as wing flaps and retractable landing gear, knowledge that was crucial for incorporating basic functional mechanisms into the design.
To overcome hurdles, a method was developed for the actual build: photographing problematic sections and using a digital sketching app to visualize solutions.
Through this process, the project honed research, creative thinking, and time-management skills, while deepening aviation knowledge and rekindling a love for LEGO.
At WISS, students explore their passions and learn by doing.

Concordia Honored with NIAAA Quality Program Award
Concordia International School Shanghai was honored with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Quality Program Award – Exemplary Level, a rare distinction recognizing excellence in school athletics programs.
Concordia is the first international school in Asia to receive this honor, joining only two other international schools worldwide, and fewer than one percent of U.S. high schools, to earn this recognition since the award was introduced.
The NIAAA Quality Program Award celebrates schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to leadership, student well-being, professional learning, ethical conduct, and overall program quality.
For Concordia, this recognition reflects the collective efforts of its coaches, student-athletes, administration, Board, and parent community in building an athletics program that prioritizes character development, personal growth, and positive student experiences through sport.
The school is grateful for the strong support of its community and looks ahead to continuing to strengthen and grow Phoenix Athletics in the years to come.
Day & Night Adventure at Fortune Kindergarten
Recently, the children of Fortune Kindergarten Jing'an Campus embarked on a journey to uncover the mysteries of day and night.
Transforming into young explorers, they learned that owls serve as the "night patrollers" while nurses tirelessly safeguard people's health into the late hours.
As dusk settled, the kindergarten's vibrant "Night Party" began. Once quiet, the campus soon echoed with joyful cheers and laughter.
Armed with flashlights, the children searched every corner for hidden "stars" and "moons."
Together, they lit up the Christmas tree, admired the bright moon in the clear night sky, and shared the warmth of an evening spent in the company of friends.
