A deadly nighttime house fire in Chaonan District, Shantou, Guangdong Province, has left eight people dead and four injured.
According to an incident bulletin released in the early hours of December 10 by the Fire and Rescue Brigade of Chaonan District, Shantou, Guangdong Province, a residential fire on Danfeng Road in Xiashan Subdistrict broke out at 9:20 p.m. on December 9, resulting in eight fatalities.
The bulletin stated that emergency responders were dispatched immediately after the alarm was received. The blaze was brought under control at 10:03 p.m. Initial investigations revealed that the fire occurred in a four-story, reinforced-concrete self-built residence, with an affected area of approximately 150 square meters. The incident left eight people dead and four injured, the latter of whom have been transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the cause of the fire is under investigation, and follow-up arrangements are proceeding in an orderly manner.
