Shanghai Lets You Get Marriage Certificate at Nightclub at Night

On November 4th, the topic "Shanghai nightclub offers on-site marriage registration" surged to the top of Chinese social media. According to reports, the Civil Affairs Bureau of Huangpu District in Shanghai has partnered with INS Land, a nightclub and entertainment venue, to launch a unique nighttime marriage certificate presentation experience.

The event will run on Fridays and Saturdays from November 14 to November 22, 2025, specifically on the evenings of November 14, 15, 21, and 22. The certification ceremonies will be held at INS Land, located within Fuxing Park, a landmark location in central Shanghai.

However, officials clarified that while the event includes a ceremonial experience, couples must still complete the legal registration process at the official Marriage Registration Office. Only those who have already obtained their marriage certificate can participate in the themed celebration at the venue.

In a WeChat article published on November 3rd titled "A Romantic Night – Bring Your Loved One to INS Land for a Sweet Certification Party," the bureau announced the collaboration. The event promises to break the traditional boundaries of time and space, creating an immersive, dreamlike marriage certificate presentation experience. This effort is also part of Huangpu District's initiative to invigorate the nighttime economy and promote modern, healthy views on marriage.

The immersive event features not only ceremonial certificate presentations but also family and relationship counseling services. Couples can reserve a spot through the official "黄浦民政" WeChat account or the INS Land platform. With limited daily slots to ensure quality, early reservations are encouraged.

INS Land describes this as a public welfare event, primarily targeting two groups:

Couples who have successfully booked to collect their marriage certificates at the Huangpu District Marriage Registration Center on November 14, 15, 21, or 22. Their official certificate presentation will be hosted at INS Land's "Oasis" ceremonial hall by experienced officials.

Couples planning to register their marriage in Huangpu District within 2025. These couples can make an appointment for registration at the nightclub site. To promote rational marriage decisions, an on-site status confirmation process ensures participants are sober and willing before booking. After reserving, they must complete the legal procedure at the official center.
