In the early hours of November 6, 2025, the 120 emergency station of a psychological hospital in Shandong, received an urgent call for help from a foreign woman.

The caller, referred to as Ms. A, had reportedly consumed eight bottles of Erguotou (a strong Chinese liquor) and soon experienced severe physical discomfort. In a moment of crisis, she called her parents in the United Kingdom for help. Due to the distance, her parents were unable to reach her in time. After being transferred through several emergency lines, the distress call was finally connected to the 120 emergency station of the mental health hospital.

Upon receiving the call, the hospital's emergency team immediately set out with professional medical equipment to Ms. A's residence without delay. When they arrived, Ms. A was already semi-conscious and unable to open the door. The medical team promptly contacted the local police, who assisted in unlocking the door and gaining access to the scene. Inside, Ms. A showed clear signs of alcohol intoxication, including slurred speech and an unsteady gait. After conducting an initial assessment and providing emergency care, the paramedics transported her safely to a psychological hospital for further treatment.

The hospital quickly organized a multidisciplinary consultation. During a detailed medical inquiry, doctors learned that Ms. A had a 15-year history of heavy drinking and suffered from severe alcohol dependence. In response to her acute alcohol poisoning, the medical team developed a targeted treatment plan, administering intravenous therapy to accelerate alcohol metabolism and reduce bodily harm. At the same time, psychological interventions were initiated to help stabilize her emotions and alleviate withdrawal symptoms.

Thanks to the dedicated care and treatment provided by the medical staff, Ms. A gradually regained consciousness, and her vital signs returned to normal. She has since been declared out of immediate danger. At present, Ms. A remains under observation and treatment at the psychological hospital, where doctors and nurses continue to monitor her physical and mental recovery, offering ongoing support to help her overcome alcohol dependence.

Medical professionals remind the public that excessive drinking can cause serious harm to both body and mind. Alcohol should be consumed responsibly, and those struggling with dependence are urged to seek timely medical and psychological support to prevent similar tragedies.
