Shanghai Int’l Flight Hits Airport Stair Truck, Airline Responds

A Juneyao Airlines aircraft was reported to have struck a passenger stair truck while taxiing at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland, drawing public attention.

On August 29, a Juneyao Airlines spokesperson confirmed that the incident involved Flight HO1607 from Shanghai to Helsinki on August 28. After landing at 6:46 p.m. Beijing time, the Boeing 787 (registration B-20D1) was taxiing into its parking stand under standard guidance when its left wingtip came into contact with an airport stair truck that had been parked in violation of regulations.

The airline stated that all passengers and crew were unharmed and disembarked safely. Juneyao has since arranged rebooking services for affected travelers and apologized for the disruption, expressing gratitude for passengers' understanding and cooperation.

Following the incident, some passengers took to social media to share their experiences. One wrote that the aircraft's wing had hit the stair truck, while another passenger noted they had received a €30 meal voucher and were unsure whether their onward flight would be delayed or canceled.

According to Juneyao Airlines' customer service, the return flight HO1608 from Helsinki to Shanghai Pudong was canceled due to mechanical issues. Representatives said they were unable to confirm details of the ground accident. Stranded passengers were rebooked onto Flight HO3202, which departed at 2:00 a.m. local time on August 29 and was scheduled to arrive in Shanghai at 6:40 p.m., though the airline noted that this was a codeshare flight, making it difficult to track individual passenger arrangements.

Finnish broadcaster Yle and Swedish daily Hufvudstadsbladet also reported the accident, citing airport operator Finavia. A Finavia spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft involved belonged to China's Juneyao Airlines. The rescue department received the incident report at 1:58 p.m. local time on August 28. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries, and passengers were transported from the aircraft by bus.
