At approximately 11:30 PM on September 13, a collision involving a train and cleaning worker occurred on Phase 1 of Line 2 of the Shaoxing Metro in Zhejiang Province, resulting in three deaths and one injury.

Over ten days have passed since the incident, yet authorities have yet to release detailed findings addressing key questions such as: "Why was the train still operating after the last scheduled service?" "Why did the GoA4 level driverless system fail to automatically stop?" and "Why did the cleaning worker enter the tracks?"

Accident Sequence: Collision Occurred Half an Hour After Last Train

According to a red alert notice issued internally by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transportation on September 14, the accident occurred during the non-operational period after Line 2 had ceased service. Public operational data shows that the last trains on Phase 1 of Line 2 depart from both terminal stations daily at 22:30 and 22:32 respectively, with a full journey taking approximately 30 minutes. Under normal circumstances, no passenger trains should have been on the line after 23:02.

However, the alert indicates that around 11:30 PM, a train collided with cleaning personnel working in the tunnel section, resulting in three deaths on the spot and one person hospitalized with a right foot injury.

On September 19, a reporter randomly interviewed cleaning staff at Line 2's Houshu Road Station, confirming the injured individual was their colleague who remains hospitalized. "Compensation hasn't been discussed yet," they stated.

Investigation Progress: Provincial and Municipal Authorities Have Intervened

On September 23, the Shaoxing Municipal Transportation Bureau confirmed the accident's validity  stating the municipal government had established an investigation team. On the 24th, the Safety Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Transportation Department indicated the investigation had been elevated to a higher level, with casualties and causes to be disclosed in the final report.

To date, both the operating entity—Shaoxing Rail Transit Group—and the contracted cleaning company—Zhejiang Asia-Pacific Hotel Property Services Co., Ltd.—have declined interviews.
