A Chinese undergraduate student has gained viral fame after examiners repeatedly asked her to remove her make-up during a broadcasting exam, only to discover her beauty was entirely natural.

This was further validated when her childhood photos surfaced online.

Hu Xinyi, a student at the Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing, went viral in January after her appearance at the Art Entrance Examinations for Chinese colleges in the capital.

Despite presenting herself with a bare face, her striking looks led examiners to suspect she was wearing make-up, prompting them to ask her five times to wipe it off.

One examiner even tugged on her eyelashes to ascertain their authenticity.

The incident ignited intense debate online, with many expressing scepticism regarding the genuineness of her natural beauty.

One commenter remarked: "Forget the double eyelids, are those under-eye bags really natural?"

Another added: "She's undeniably pretty, but something still seems off."

Despite these interruptions, Hu achieved the highest score in the capital, securing the top rank in the Beijing Unified Examination for Broadcasting and Hosting Arts with a total of 274 points.

She also successfully passed CUC's professional exam, scoring 83.07 and ranking 17th nationwide.

CUC is widely regarded as the premier institution for broadcasting and media studies in China, renowned for producing many nationally celebrated TV anchors.

On September 13, she shared photos from the university's opening ceremony, officially announcing her enrollment.

She captioned the post: "I love CUC and CUC loves me! Everyone is so friendly and talented."

Amid public scrutiny, Hu has continuously denied having undergone any cosmetic procedures.

On her Douyin account, where she has now amassed over 400,000 followers, she expressed on her profile: "I want to be a well-made cake. I haven't had any surgery, I really haven't, please stop asking."

These images attracted widespread praise and encouragement from netizens.

One person commented: "Those who constantly accuse her of plastic surgery probably couldn't look this good even if they underwent it themselves. Pure jealousy."

Another said: "She truly is beautiful. No matter what people say, it wouldn't diminish her stunning appearance."

Despite her new-found fame, Hu has publicly stated that she has no desire to enter the entertainment industry or act in TV dramas.

She responded to the online attacks by saying: "The rumours that once kept me up at night have now become part of my vocal resonance. This gift of growth will forever echo softly in every word I speak."
