The National Meteorological Center of China continued to issue an orange alert for heavy rain at 6:00 a.m. on August 4.
According to forecasts, from 8:00 a.m. on August 4 to 8:00 a.m. on August 5, heavy to torrential rainfall is expected to affect parts of eastern Qinghai, central and eastern Gansu, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, central and eastern Shanxi, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, northern Henan, most areas of Guangxi, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, southern Fujian, western Yunnan, and Taiwan Island.
Among these regions, southwestern Beijing, southern Tianjin, central and southern Hebei, southeastern Fujian, eastern Guangxi, northern and central-eastern Guangdong, and Hong Kong are forecast to experience intense downpours, while southern Hebei, eastern Guangxi, and coastal areas of northern and central-eastern Guangdong may see extreme rainfall ranging from 250 to 350 millimeters.
In addition to heavy rainfall, short-term intense precipitation (maximum hourly rainfall of 20 to 50 mm, locally exceeding 80 mm) is expected in some areas. Severe convective weather, such as thunderstorms and strong winds, may also accompany the rain in localized regions.
