2 Dead, 3 Injured ： Shocking Knife Attack Outside Primary School

On the evening of August 3, the Leiyang Public Security Bureau in Hengyang, Hunan Province, issued an official statement regarding a serious criminal incident.

"At approximately 6:00 p.m. on August 3, 2025, a case of intentional assault occurred in the Caizichi Subdistrict of our city, resulting in two fatalities and three injuries. Local police responded swiftly and apprehended the suspect, Duan Mou Chao, a 31-year-old male. All injured individuals have been hospitalized and are in stable condition. Follow-up efforts and further investigation are currently underway."

According to a witness interviewed that evening, the incident occurred near the entrance of Ruolan Primary School in Leiyang. The witness reported that a man in his thirties suddenly appeared wielding a knife. "He ran in from the intersection with a knife in hand and started attacking people. He even entered a mahjong parlor and continued the assault," the witness said. The attacker was apprehended shortly after injuring multiple individuals.
