Person Probed After Lead Poisoning in NW China Kindergarten

 A person in charge of a kindergarten in Northwest China's Gansu Province has been placed under investigation after the illegal use of additives led to abnormal blood lead levels in some children, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Thursday.
The local market supervision bureau and the public security bureau received reports from the public on Tuesday that a kindergarten's illegal use of additives led to abnormal blood lead levels in some children, CCTV learned from authorities in Maiji district in the city of Tianshui, Gansu, on Thursday.

According to local authorities, a working group made up of relevant departments and experts has been formed to carry out epidemiological tracing, medical support, and investigation.
At present, the medical treatment, nutritional intervention and psychological counseling for the affected children are underway in a scientific and orderly manner. The person in charge of the involved kindergarten has been placed under investigation and the departments responsible for supervision will be held accountable. Other relevant investigations are underway.
