A 38-year-old man surnamed Jiao has been arrested by police in Jiangning District, Nanjing, after authorities received reports that private videos—including intimate encounters—had been leaked online. Investigators discovered that Jiao moved to Nanjing from another province and had been disguising himself as a woman, using wigs, makeup, and dresses, to initiate sexual relationships with multiple men. During these encounters, he allegedly surreptitiously recorded videos and uploaded them to the internet.
Early online accounts claimed Jiao tricked as many as 1,600 men, with some rumors suggesting ages up to 60. However, police have dismissed these inflated figures, clarifying they arrested a 38-year-old suspect and have only confirmed "several victims," not the viral number across social media.
Authorities have detained Jiao on suspicion of distributing obscene materials. The local police launched their probe after a tip-off from a resident reported finding privately filmed videos online. They confirmed his use of feminine disguises to facilitate the sexual acts, but have emphasized that the scope of the crime remains under investigation.
The case has generated a strong reaction on Chinese social media—Weibo and platforms like X—with many expressing outrage over issues of privacy, consent, and public health risks such as sexually transmitted diseases. Chinese law carries strict penalties for knowingly spreading sexually transmitted infections, and officials are urging anyone who may have been involved to come forward as the investigation continues.
