A foreign passenger was recently caught by Guangzhou Customs after attempting to smuggle over 1.3 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside his body.
Guangzhou Customs recently intercepted a drug smuggling attempt involving a passenger who concealed narcotics within his body upon arrival at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. A total of 1,387.45 grams of cocaine were seized. The case has since been transferred to the anti-smuggling department for further investigation and processing.
During a routine inspection of an inbound flight, customs officers at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport noticed a passenger exhibiting suspicious behavior and visible nervousness. Upon further examination, the individual expelled 14 cylindrical objects wrapped in a milky-white plastic membrane from his body—suspected to be drug-filled capsules, commonly referred to as "drug pellets."
The passenger was immediately handed over to the anti-smuggling bureau and sent to a designated medical facility for further examination and supervised detoxification. Over time, an additional 56 similar pellets were excreted, bringing the total to 70. Laboratory analysis confirmed that all the pellets contained cocaine, amounting to a total weight of 1,387.45 grams.
Customs authorities issued a stern reminder that, under Article 347 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, anyone who smuggles, traffics, transports, or manufactures narcotic drugs shall bear criminal responsibility and be subject to legal penalties, regardless of the quantity involved.
