According to an interview with the victim, Ms. Wang (a pseudonym), the suspect repeatedly brushed against her even after she changed positions to avoid him. Just as she began to realize the situation was serious, the plainclothes officer stepped in.
The Shanghai Metro confirmed the incident and stated that the case is currently under investigation. A metro spokesperson emphasized that passenger safety is a top priority. They noted that plainclothes police officers are deployed daily across the network.
Additionally, each metro station is assigned stationed police officers, and patrols are regularly conducted by police personnel and duty supervisors.
Passengers who encounter disputes or emergencies within the station or train cars are encouraged to call the Metro's service hotline. Staff members can quickly dispatch on-site police officers for immediate support.
Alternatively, passengers can reach out to in-car staff who will respond promptly and coordinate with the police.
