A Zhenzhou-Milan flight made an unexpected return just an hour after takeoff.
On the evening of May 2, a social media user reported that Juneyao Airlines flight HO1667, en route from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to Milan Malpensa Airport, turned back to Zhengzhou after more than an hour in the air.
On May 3, a Juneyao Airlines representative told reporters that the flight's return was marked as due to "company reasons," and passengers seeking compensation could apply through the airline's official website.
Later that day, Juneyao Airlines issued an official statement confirming the incident. According to the airline, shortly after takeoff, flight HO1667 encountered a technical issue. In accordance with safety protocols and to ensure maximum flight safety, the crew decided to return to Zhengzhou for further inspection. The aircraft landed safely at 4:46 p.m. local time.
The statement added that the airline promptly arranged for a replacement aircraft to be dispatched to Zhengzhou. The substitute flight arrived at approximately 9 p.m. and took off for Milan at 11:39 p.m. The flight has since landed safely in Milan.
"Juneyao Airlines prioritizes flight safety above all else," the company stated. "We sincerely apologize to all passengers affected by this incident and will do our utmost to provide proper arrangements and assistance."
