According to recent Japanese media reports, a Japanese kindergarten operator in Beijing was detained by Chinese authorities last year on suspicion of violating the country's immigration law and was deported to Japan.

The authorities determined that the man, who had long operated the school for Japanese children in China, engaged in a business not permitted under his visa. The kindergarten was later closed.

Earlier this year, six Japanese nationals in China, including three hairdressers, were detained for allegedly conducting activities not permitted under their visas.

The Japanese Embassy in Beijing has issued an alert, warning Japanese citizens in China not to engage in potentially illegal businesses.
