China will implement a visa-free policy for standard passport holders from five Latin American and Caribbean countries — Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay — from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a press briefing on Thursday.
Citizens of these nations will be allowed to enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for purposes such as tourism, business, visiting family and friends, cultural exchanges, or transit, Lin stated.
Highlighting China's ongoing efforts to open up to the world, Lin added that more initiatives will follow to ease international travel. He encouraged visitors to take advantage of the visa-free policy and experience the rich culture and energy of China firsthand.
The announcement came during the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing, where China also expressed plans to extend the visa-free programme to additional countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region in the future, as reported by Xinhua.
