"Are European Prisons Really That Nice?" Netizens Are Curious

Lately, a quirky video portraying life inside a European prison went viral—and it wasn't just Europeans who found it funny. Chinese netizens jumped into the conversation too, and let's just say things got very interesting.

The video takes the form of a mock vlog titled " Day in the Life (of a) European Prisoner." The supposed inmate wakes up at 10:30 AM to the smell of fresh coffee, made by a prison guard. What follows is a jam-packed day of meditation, conjugal visits, park strolls for "punishment," therapy, and dessert carts. It's so over-the-top that it feels like satire. But the question on everyone's mind: is this real?

In the comments section, things took a reflective turn. A Chinese netizen wrote: "I wake up at 6, work from 7 to 7, eat two meals in a one-hour break, come home, shower, and sleep. No holidays. 5,500 yuan a month. A 30-year mortgage with 3,500 monthly payments. 23 years to go. Is that not a prison?"

Others chimed in with a mix of disbelief and dark humor. "If prison life is this nice, who would be scared of breaking the law?" one user quipped. Another was skeptical: "It's exaggerated! Surely it's not that comfortable."

So… what's the truth? Are some prisons really that livable? Or is this just internet myth-making at its finest? Have you ever heard of similar stories? Do you think any of it is real?
