Province to Face Widespread Rain During May Day Holiday
Guangdong province is forecasted to experience unstable weather conditions, including significant rainfall, throughout the May Day holiday period from May 1 to 5. The most intense downpours are anticipated at the start and end of the holiday, especially in northern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta.
Between April 29 and 30, areas such as Yunfu, Zhaoqing, and parts of western Guangdong will experience cloudy skies with occasional showers. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly cloudy, with daytime temperatures ranging from 29°C to 33°C.
From the evening of April 30 through May 1, regions including Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Yunfu, and northern parts of the Pearl River Delta can expect overcast skies with moderate to heavy rainfall, and some areas may see torrential downpours.
Thunderstorms and gusty winds (level 6–8) are also expected across other parts of the province. Daytime highs will range from 24°C to 28°C in the north, and 28°C to 31°C in other regions.
Cloudy conditions with scattered thunderstorms will dominate most of Guangdong between May 2 and 3.
Heavier weather is predicted from the evening of May 3 to May 5 in northern areas and the Pearl River Delta, with continuous rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds (level 7–10). Other regions are likely to see isolated showers and storms.
In Guangzhou, April 30 is expected to bring thunderstorms with temperatures between 22°C and 30°C.
From May 1 to 3, the city will experience mostly cloudy weather with occasional showers, and temperatures ranging from 23°C to 31°C. Moderate thunderstorms are likely on the night of May 3 into May 4, while May 5 will be overcast with heavy rain and temperatures dropping to 23°C–27°C.
