  On April 24, the Sanya Business Environment Development Bureau announced streamlined procedures for foreign doctors applying to practice short-term in China, reducing paperwork and improving service efficiency.

Foreign physicians are no longer required to submit a health certificate during the application. Instead, the health documentation will be submitted on-site by the medical institution during a supervisory inspection by the Sanya Health Commission. This adjustment aims to simplify procedures and enhance administrative convenience.

Under the new guidelines, foreign doctors applying for short-term medical practice in Sanya must now provide the following documents:

  • Application form for short-term medical practice in China;

  • Degree certificate;

  • A valid medical license or proof of medical practice rights in their home country;

  • Proof of invitation or employment from a medical institution in China, along with either a formal agreement or a letter of civil liability commitment.

All degree certificates and medical licenses must be notarized by an embassy or certified under the Hague Apostille Convention.

A representative from the Sanya Business Environment Development Bureau stated that the streamlined process is intended to reduce the time and effort foreign doctors spend on administrative procedures. The goal is to attract more high-caliber international medical professionals to Sanya, enhance the city's healthcare services, and offer residents and tourists a wider range of quality medical options in line with global standards.
