On February 24, a cross-continental emergency assistance operation took place at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
A foreign traveler, Oskars, who was stranded due to visa issues, successfully rescheduled his flight after a 10-hour collaborative effort by multiple airport departments.
Visa Crisis: Emergency Aid Amid Double TroubleAt the early hours of February 24, Oskars, a foreign traveler, was denied boarding by his airline at Chongqing airport while attempting to transit to Australia. He faced a dual dilemma: not only had he failed to apply for an Australian visa in advance, but he was also at risk of overstaying China's 30-day visa-free policy, which had just expired. Upon receiving the traveler's request for help, Wen Jing, the duty manager of the service operations department, immediately went to the scene to assist.Upon arrival, Wen Jing calmly reassured the traveler, gathered information, and coordinated with relevant departments. After verifying Oskars' personal details, it was confirmed that his 30-day visa-free stay in China had expired, and he needed to leave immediately to avoid fines or detention. Given the complexities of his situation involving international travel and potential overstay, Wen Jing promptly reported the case to the relevant authorities, ensuring a unified effort to resolve the issue.Breakthrough Moment: Revised Plans After ClarificationTo clarify whether Oskars had a visa issue, Wen Jing contacted the embassies of Oskars' country and Australia, as well as the Chinese consulate. After multiple confirmations, it was determined that Australia had a visa-free agreement with Oskars' home country, but an eVisitor visa application was required in advance. Oskars had been denied boarding by the airline because he had failed to apply for the eVisitor visa. Since the application process for the eVisitor visa was time-consuming, after several rounds of communication, Oskars decided to alter his travel plans and head to Finland, a Schengen Area country.Since his flight the next day required a transfer to Finland, Wen Jing coordinated with China Southern Airlines and the security department to ensure Oskars could proceed with his journey. After confirming that the traveler could continue on his way, Wen Jing successfully rebooked his entire flight. A full 10 hours had passed from the moment Wen Jing arrived to assist Oskars until he was safely sent to a hotel. Oskars, visibly relieved, gave a thumbs-up and said, "My original plan was to travel from Asia to Oceania, but I ended up heading to Europe instead. Finally, the travel documentation issues across three continents have been resolved!""I am deeply impressed by the emergency response and human-centered care at Chongqing Airport. I really appreciate it! I applaud your efficiency, humanistic management, and service!" Oskars expressed his gratitude to the airport staff before boarding his flight.
