On August 27, the State Council Information Office held a press conference where Qi Yanjun, the Deputy Minister of Public Security in charge of daily operations, provided an update on foreign visitor statistics for the first seven months of 2024.
From January to July, China welcomed 5.722 million foreign tourists, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 403%. The number of visitors for meetings and business purposes reached 3.803 million, up 81.5% compared to the same period last year. Additionally, 1.723 million foreign nationals visited China to reunite with family and friends, representing a 107.4% increase year-on-year.
