On June 13, during an interactive Q&A session at the Legislative Council, Hong Kong Chief Executive Lee Ka Chiu John revealed that over the past 18 months, at least 47,000 individuals holding foreign passports have entered Hong Kong through various talent schemes.

In response to a legislator's question about how Hong Kong, as a global metropolis, plans to attract international talent, Lee Ka Chiu John highlighted that Hong Kong has successfully drawn a significant number of mainland Chinese talents due to the close proximity and convenient transportation. Additionally, since the implementation of various talent policies over the past 18 months, Hong Kong has not only attracted many outstanding talents from the mainland but also at least 47,000 individuals holding foreign passports.

Lee Ka Chiu John expressed confidence that the target of attracting 50,000 talents within two years would be achievable. He emphasized that Hong Kong, as an international city, has two enduring advantages: its strong backing from the mainland and its global connectivity. These factors enable Hong Kong to attract both mainland and international talents.
Regarding support for new talents coming to Hong Kong, Lee Ka Chiu John stressed the importance of maintaining a network to connect these talents. The Hong Kong SAR Government remains committed to this effort and has introduced a series of measures. These include establishing the Hong Kong Talent Service Office to provide services in education, healthcare, and other areas, developing diversified online platforms to facilitate instant matching of talents and job opportunities, and organizing various offline workshops and seminars.
