Zhejiang Encourages a 4.5-Day Workweek

On March 24, Zhejiang released a guideline to spur consumption with moves including encouraging government agencies, companies, and institutions to explore a 4.5-day workweek, following the moves of multiple Chinese provinces. 
Zhejiang will focus on stimulating digital, health and car consumption as the epidemic situation has improved, and roll out 16 specific moves, including promoting online services such as online markets, restaurants and livestream shopping, accelerating AI applications in the consumption area and 5G infrastructure construction.

Beijing, Shanghai Tighten Inbound Travel Restrictions


Both Beijing and Shanghai said they will adopt stricter novel coronavirus prevention measures for inbound travelers beginning Wednesday, as more domestically confirmed infections have been linked to imported cases.
 

Of the 78 new confirmed cases across the country on Monday, 74 were imported, according to the National Health Commission. The total number of imported cases reached 427 by Monday, and 47 of those were identified as foreigners, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Tuesday.


 

Starting on Wednesday, Beijing will require that all overseas arrivals take a nucleic acid test before being quarantined in designated facilities for 14 days. Travelers are expected to cover the costs of the quarantine.

 

Also starting on Wednesday, all inbound flights previously scheduled to land at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport will be diverted to Shanghai Pudong International Airport so that quarantine measures can be better coordinated, Shanghai officials announced.

 

All inbound international passengers have been taking nucleic acid tests for the virus since Monday.

 

China Sends Third Group of Medical Experts to Italy


The Chinese government decided to send a third group of medical experts to Italy to help the country cope with the novel coronavirus epidemic. The team departed on Wednesday at noon, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said.



Hubei to Resume Rail Service

 

A total of 17 train stations in Wuhan, capital of the province, will resume operations to handle arrival trains on March 28, China Railway Wuhan Group said, adding the stations in the city will begin outbound train service on April 8.

 

Train stations in other areas of the province will resume passenger train services arriving in and departing from Hubei starting Wednesday, it said.
