Who Are the Richest People in China and in the World This Year?

Earlier this week, the Hurun Research Institute released its annual Global Rich List, a ranking of the US-Dollar billionaires in the world.

Heres the top 10 list:

In China, this year's list shows technology as the main source of wealth, followed by real estate, manufacturing, investment and retail, with the top five sectors accounting for half of the list.

Ten of the top 20 in China are from real estate-related industries.

Top three richest people in China: Jack Ma, Pony Ma and Xu Jiayin.

Jack Ma again topped the list of China's richest people once again with RMB 315 billion, up 15% from last year, and ranks 21st in the world, up one place.

Alibaba went public in Hong Kong last November, with a market value of more than RMB 3.6 trillion on its first day of trading.

In just over two months since its listing, Alibaba's Hong Kong stock price has risen more than 20%, and the group's total market value has exceeded RMB 4 trillion.

Pony Ma, 49, ranks second in China and 22nd globally with RMB 308 billion yuan. Tencent's total revenue in the third quarter of last year was nearly RMB 100 billion, up 21% from a year earlier.

Xu Jiayin, 62 and chairman of the Evergrande Real Estate Group, ranks third in China and 31st globally with RMB 231 billion.

Despite the influence and spread of the epidemic, the Evergrande Real Estate Group has made a few recent significant moves to continue bringing in cash. In the last three days alone, Evergrande's customers have subscribed for more than 47,500 houses, bringing in a total value of RMB 58 billion.

Evergrande ranks 20th on the Hurun China 500 Most Valuable Private Companies with a value of RMB 221 billion.
