Police rescued some 53 Chinese women from a prostitution racket in Baclaran, Paraaque City early Thursday.
The operation also led to the arrest of 4 Chinese men who allegedly managed the enterprise and 7 Filipino women who worked as cleaners.
Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) raided the 3-storey condominium building after they were tipped off it was allegedly being used as a prostitution den.
The information came following the Sept. 4 rescue of 7 foreign sex workers at a separate prostitution den in Makati City, NCRPO director Guillermo Eleazar said.
The women were allegedly sold at P9,000 to P22,000. The building has 30 ordinary rooms and 7 VIP rooms, which the patrons, most of them also Chinese, could rent.
A Filipino cleaner said that the prostitution den operates from 5 p.m. until 5 a.m. and extends its operating hours on weekends to serve more customers.
Filipino customers could not enter the premises without a Chinese companion.
Some 20 Chinese customers were also apprehended by the police during the operation.
Paraaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said they discovered the racket due to the suspicious presence of Chinese even if the building has yet to be completed.
"This building has not yet secured an occupancy permit, more so a business permit," he said.
Those arrested will face complaints for violating Republic Act 10364, also known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
