China Removes 393 Overseas Institutions From Degree Recognition List

On October 19, China's Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), under the Ministry of Education, published its 2026 List of Removed Institutions on its official website, removing 393 overseas institutions from display in its online Degree Recognition Institution Search System.

To help students make informed decisions when choosing overseas institutions, the CSCSE has completed its annual update of the institution search data. The following details have been announced:

1. Data Coverage Period

The current data covers the period from June 28, 2021, to June 28, 2026. The list is based on information about institutions involved in applications that received recognition certificates during this period, with the date of issuance of each certificate used as the reference date.

The search data is generally updated once a year, with each update covering the five years immediately preceding the update date.

Some institutions may no longer appear in the search results because their relevant recognition records fall outside the current statistical period. Such changes do not constitute a new determination of an institution's qualifications and do not indicate any change in recognition standards.

2. Search Portal

The institution search system is available at:

yxcx.cscse.edu.cn

3. The Search Results Do Not Guarantee Recognition

The search data is provided for reference only and does not serve as a basis for, or guarantee of, the approval of any degree recognition application.

An institution's appearance in the search results does not mean that the qualifications it awards will necessarily be recognized. Conversely, an institution's absence from the results does not mean that applicants cannot submit a recognition application or that their applications will necessarily be rejected.

The CSCSE will determine whether to accept and evaluate individual applications, as well as their outcomes, in accordance with the Measures for the Accreditation of Overseas Academic Degrees and Qualifications, the Service Agreement for the Accreditation of Overseas Academic Degrees and Qualifications, and other relevant recognition rules, taking each applicant's specific circumstances into account.

4. Search Results May Change

Search results may change as the data coverage period is updated annually. Adjustments may also be made due to changes in institutional information or the administrative needs of the search service.

Further details on the scope of displayed information and the circumstances under which adjustments may be made are provided in Article 4 of the Instructions for Using the Degree Recognition Institution Search System.

The display or adjustment of an institution's information does not directly determine the outcome of any individual degree recognition application.

5. Read the User Instructions Before Searching

Users are advised to read the entire Instructions for Using the Degree Recognition Institution Search System before using the service.

For questions or to report errors in the search information, users can contact the CSCSE through its published consultation channel at [email protected].
