On October 8, the Financial Times (FT) published the 2026 Global Business School Case Impact Ranking, placing China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) first in Asia and fourth worldwide.

The ranking draws on data from several leading international case distributors and considers a range of measures, including the number of cases, the organisations that use them, the countries and regions reached, total usage, and the number of authors. Together, these measures indicate how widely a school’s cases are used in management education worldwide.

The FT also named the six bestselling new cases published since 2024. Frontline Fulfillment Centers: A Profitable Business Model or a Mirage? (A/B/C), developed by CEIBS Professors Feida Zhang and Shimin Chen, and Case Centre Researcher Dr. Xiayan Huang, ranked fourth globally.

Cases connect management theory with business practice and are also an important part of research and teaching. As China’s economy continues to evolve and Chinese companies step up innovation and global expansion, new management questions are emerging. For business schools in China, the challenge is to turn these developments into research and teaching rooted in Chinese practice while addressing questions that matter well beyond China.

Wang Hong

CEIBS President

China’s modernisation provides a rich foundation for management research. Business schools in China need to understand the country in depth while also finding better ways to integrate knowledge from Chinese practice into international research and teaching. Questions arising from Chinese business practice can have broader relevance for both research and management. CEIBS will continue to build on its “China Depth, Global Breadth” approach and bring more knowledge and insight from China into management education worldwide.

Frank Bournois

CEIBS Co-President (European)

The benefits of management education are felt when ideas and experience cross national borders, cultures, and markets. Chinese companies are innovating and expanding internationally at a rapid pace, offering valuable insights into how business is changing globally. Bringing more China-focused cases into classrooms worldwide broadens students’ perspectives, deepens their understanding of Chinese companies, markets, and management practices, and strengthens their ability to make sound decisions in an increasingly interconnected business environment.

Léon Laulusa

CEIBS Vice President and Dean

Management education ultimately prepares people to make sound, responsible decisions in complex environments. As technology advances and global business grows more complex, independent thinking and sound judgement matter more than ever. As a bridge between China and Europe, CEIBS uses case teaching to place learners in real-world business situations where they challenge themselves through collective intelligence, weigh evidence, make choices, and consider consequences. CEIBS will continue to align case development more closely with curriculum design and teaching innovation.

Zhu Tian

CEIBS Vice President and Co-Dean

Decades of economic development and business innovation in China have produced many management questions worthy of study. Business schools in China should not only use existing theories to explain Chinese practice but also draw on that practice to raise new questions, generate new evidence, and develop new knowledge. As Chinese companies become more deeply engaged in global competition, their experience with innovation, internationalisation, supply-chain restructuring, and organisational change is opening new avenues for management research and theory development.

Shimin Chen

CEIBS Associate Dean (Case Centre)

Building a strong case base takes time. What matters is not merely the number of cases developed or collected, but whether they are taught and continue to be used. Over the past decade, CEIBS has strengthened its work across case development, review, teaching, distribution, and international collaboration, with greater attention to both quality and classroom use. The ranking reflects the widespread international use of CEIBS cases and the growing presence of Chinese management practice in classrooms worldwide. The focus now is on developing more high-quality cases based on Chinese business practice and making them available to more educators.

Established in 2013, The Global Platform of China Cases (ChinaCases.Org) now hosts more than 3,800 cases across 19 disciplines and 21 industries, with about 300 new cases added each year. Cumulative case usage has surpassed 2.9 million. Through international partnerships, the platform now reaches more than 1,200 schools and organisations in over 90 countries and regions.

In recent years, CEIBS has expanded its partnerships with international case organisations and business schools, helping more high-quality, China-focused cases reach leading global distribution platforms. These partnerships have also made Chinese cases more widely available to educators and students worldwide.

Looking ahead, CEIBS will continue to invest in case development, teaching innovation, and international collaboration. It aims to bring more high-quality, China-focused cases into classrooms worldwide and to contribute more insights from Chinese business practice to global management education.
