Deng Hongpeng appeared before the Koshigaya Branch of the Saitama District Court on September 3 for his first hearing in the latest case.

In May 2025, Deng drove into a group of elementary school children while intoxicated before fleeing the scene. He was later sentenced to two years and six months in prison, suspended for four years, and his driver’s license was revoked.

During that earlier trial, Deng told the court that he would “never drive a car again.”

However, prosecutors say he repeatedly drove without a valid license in Saitama Prefecture in June 2026, despite still being under the suspended sentence.

Deng was later arrested and charged with violating Japan’s Road Traffic Act.

At the September 3 hearing, he reportedly sat facing forward as prosecutors read the charges against him.

When asked to respond to the allegations, Deng admitted them, telling the court: “It is true. That is correct.”
