That one bowl has now turned this humble eatery into a global sensation.
What’s the hype?
Weixiangzhai, tucked away on Yan’an Road, is a 37-square-meter space with just 11 tables. It opens at 8 AM and closes at 8:30 PM — and every single seat is full all day long.
Since the “Spider-Man” visit, daily orders have jumped nearly 80%. The store now serves 50 to 60 foreign customers every day — most of whom discovered the place through overseas social media.
What to order
The star of the show is the sesame paste noodles (14 RMB). The secret? A mix of peanut butter and sesame paste, stirred with hot peanut oil, topped with chili oil and a special meat sauce. The rule: the noodles must be thick enough to make your chopsticks stand straight.
The “celebrity combo” — noodles + beef broth + fried pork chop — costs just 39 RMB.
One foreign visitor wrote online: “This is way better than any pasta I've ever had.”
