Transferring through Shanghai Pudong International Airport may become easier for some passengers.

Starting from June 16, Juneyao Airlines and China Eastern Airlines, including Shanghai Airlines, have expanded their cross-airline, cross-terminal transfer service at Pudong Airport.

Under the expanded service, eligible passengers can complete through check-in and baggage through-check at their departure airport. This means that when transferring at Pudong, they may no longer need to collect large checked bags and recheck them between different terminals.

The service applies to certain connecting routes between Juneyao Airlines and China Eastern or Shanghai Airlines. Newly added domestic departure or arrival cities include Zhengzhou, Changsha, Xiamen, and Lanzhou.

International destinations covered by the expanded service include New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, San Francisco, Toronto, Auckland, and Brussels.

For passengers traveling between these domestic cities and international destinations via Pudong, the upgrade may make the transfer process smoother, especially for those carrying large luggage or traveling with family.

The service follows an earlier trial route between Qingdao, Shanghai, and Singapore, which allowed passengers to transfer at Pudong without reclaiming luggage or checking in again.

Passengers should note that the service only applies to eligible connecting flights operated under the relevant airline arrangements. Before departure, travelers are advised to confirm details with the airline, booking platform, or airport staff.
