Navigating between Shanghai's two major aviation hubs just became a bit more flexible for the city's residents and visitors as well. Starting April 1, 2026, the Shanghai Airport Link Line—the dedicated express connecting Hongqiao and Pudong—has officially updated its schedule to better accommodate changing passenger flows.

By shifting both its start and end times, the line has added a total of 30 minutes to its daily operations, offering a small but significant window of extra time for those catching early morning or late-night flights.
For travelers starting their day on the western side of the city, the journey from Hongqiao Terminal 2 toward Pudong Terminal 1 and 2 now begins earlier. The first train of the day has been moved up from its original 6:00 AM departure to a new time of 5:45 AM. This 15-minute head start is particularly useful for passengers aiming for early domestic departures or those who want a bit of extra breathing room before an international check-in.
While the morning start has shifted, the final departure time from Hongqiao remains unchanged.
On the other end of the line, the evening schedule from Pudong Terminal 1 and 2 toward Hongqiao Terminal 2 has been extended to help those arriving later in the night. The final train, which previously departed at 10:00 PM, now leaves 15 minutes later at 10:15 PM. This extension allows passengers landing in the late evening a slightly better chance of catching the express link across the city rather than relying on taxis or ride-hailing services.
The first morning train from Pudong heading toward Hongqiao continues to follow its original schedule.
Even with these adjustments to the first and last trains, the overall frequency of the service remains consistent, with trains departing every 15 minutes throughout the day.
