Visit the Pandas Early: If you plan to visit the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, we suggest arriving early in the morning. Pandas are most active during feeding time, usually between 8:30-10:30 AM.
Prepare for Spicy Food: Chengdu is the cradle of Sichuan cuisine, known for its bold flavors and numbing spice from Sichuan peppercorns. If you're not used to spicy food, please remember to mention it before you order.
Weather in Chengdu: Chengdu has many cloudy and rainy days with relatively little sunshine. On average, the city experiences only about 46 sunny days each year. Because of the lower UV exposure, locals are often known for their smooth skin.
Best time to visit Chengdu: We would recommend autumn. Summer is hot and humid; it is one of the hottest major cities in China, and pandas usually stay indoors during this season.
Avoid China's two major public holidays: Labor Day (May 1–5) and National Day (October 1–7), when all tourist spots are extremely crowded.
