According to CCTV News on November 11, data security has recently emerged as a major concern for the public.

Experts warn that improper use of large AI models can lead to privacy breaches, and connecting to public Wi-Fi without caution can also be exploited by malicious actors. What everyday online habits may put personal information at risk, and how can these risks be mitigated?

Improper Use of AI Models and Fake Wi-Fi Can Lead to Personal Data Leaks

As large AI models are increasingly applied across industries, their associated security risks have become more complex.

Cybersecurity specialists point out that AI model security involves three key layers: data, infrastructure, and the models themselves, with data security risks in personal usage being particularly prominent. Even seemingly harmless images or text processed by AI can inadvertently reveal personal identities, relationships, or other sensitive information.

Cybersecurity expert Li Hu explained, "Sometimes we just upload a group photo to process it with AI, but this can expose personal information. Once the photo is uploaded, facial recognition technology can extract identities, which could be further exploited by malicious actors."

In addition to risks from AI model usage, connecting to unknown public Wi-Fi can also lead to sensitive information leaks. Cybersecurity expert Wang Yuanyuan noted that malicious actors may exploit unsecured, free Wi-Fi to set up fake access points, tricking users into connecting and intercepting their personal information.

Experts emphasized that once a device connects to a malicious Wi-Fi, operations such as entering usernames, passwords, and other personal data can be intercepted.

Avoid Sharing Photos Publicly

Experts recommend that users strengthen their security awareness by prioritizing compliant AI platforms and installing applications through official channels. When connecting to Wi-Fi, users should be wary of password-free hotspots to avoid falling into phishing traps.

  • Everyday Habits That Can Lead to Privacy Leaks

1.Do not share travel tickets or vehicle information

Posting train tickets, flight boarding passes, or vehicle license plates online can allow strangers with malicious intent to obtain personal information.

2.Do not share photos of personal documents

ID cards, passports, driver's licenses, and marriage certificates contain sensitive personal data and should not be posted online casually.

3.Do not share location information

Avoid posting geolocation data, as it can reveal your home address and potentially cause unnecessary risks.

4.Do not share information about elderly family members or children

Avoid posting photos or names of seniors and children to prevent exploitation by criminals. Sharing such content privately within family groups is recommended.
