Recently, an incident involving an individual allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a public place has emerged in Taiwan, sparking widespread public concern.

According to Taiwanese media reports, on the afternoon of the 9th of this month, at around 4 PM, a Hong Kong female tourist, who was intoxicated, was lying in the main hall of Taipei Station. She was forcibly dragged to a wall by a man and sexually assaulted for more than 10 minutes. Shockingly, no one on the scene intervened.

It wasn't until a foreign tourist noticed the unusual situation and called the police that the authorities arrived and rescued the victim, arresting the suspect on the spot. The arrested man, identified as Mr. Qiu, was a wanted criminal with a previous record for theft. He is currently serving a sentence in the Tucheng Branch of Taipei Prison for another case.

The Hong Kong victim only realized she had been sexually assaulted after waking up from her drunken state. She has since sought medical attention for a forensic examination and filed charges. A Malaysian student, who witnessed the assault and filmed it, mentioned that he was waiting for a friend on the second floor of the station when he saw the man drag the woman to the wall and assault her. He recorded the video as evidence and, after his friend arrived, assisted in reporting the incident to the police. He expressed surprise that despite the number of tourists present, no one else seemed to notice the situation.

Taipei Railway Administration, which manages Taipei Station, issued a statement expressing regret over the incident and emphasized its full cooperation with the police investigation. In recent years, there has been a growing number of homeless individuals congregating around Taipei Station, raising concerns among the public about safety. The railway administration stated that it had held a meeting with the Railway Police Bureau to propose four measures to improve the situation, and that police patrols would be strengthened.
