Greenwave held the Newcomer Meet & Greet at Latina Brazilian Steakhouse at Jingan Store on September 11th with great success. Designed for friends who are new to Shanghai, the atmosphere was enthusiastic and lively. Individuals connected in a relaxed environment, sharing stories, love, and support in a community.

The mission of this activity was to establish a bridge of communication and exchange—bridging expatriates new to Shanghai with Chinese returnees starting their next chapter here.

Through face-to-face interaction, not only did attendees exchange tips on daily life, work, and cultural adaptation, but also acquired many practical information and tips.

The conversations provided newcomers with a better sense of direction and ease them into their new city.

There were lively discussions and experience-sharing among guests on how to better settle into Shanghai. Topics and activities included:

Down-to-earth daily tips – from taking public transportation to ordering dependable delivery services and mobile applications that make daily life easier.
Insider tips – top restaurants, hidden spots in the city, cultural attractions, and where to relax after a busy week.
Cross-cultural comprehension – knowledge gained from collaborating with international teams, acculturating to new workplace settings, and communicating across languages.
Lifestyle compromises – advice on healthcare providers, gyms, and recreation activities for families with children.
Networking – contacts that brought professionals from different fields together, making new friends and potential future collaborators. Sharing personal stories of moving to Shanghai, contact details, and even planning mini group outings after the event.

Many participants mentioned that apart from gaining tons of helpful information and inspiration, the most valuable takeaway was establishing real connections and finding a community of actual new friends.
