Chinese immigration authorities at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport denied entry to a group of 42 Indian travelers after they failed to provide essential travel documents required under China's updated entry regulations.

According to reports, the passengers arrived from India but were unable to present confirmed return flight tickets, valid hotel reservations, or proof of sufficient financial means to support their stay.

Immigration officials stated that the decision to deny entry was in full compliance with the new border management policy implemented in September 2025.

Under the revised rules, visitors from several designated countries—including India—are required to provide three key documents upon arrival:

  1. A confirmed return or onward flight ticket,

  2. Proof of accommodation such as a hotel booking or invitation letter, and

  3. Evidence of adequate financial resources.

Failure to meet any of these requirements results in immediate refusal of entry.

Authorities indicated that some of the travelers may have been misinformed by unlicensed travel agents in India promoting misleading "visa-free" or "easy entry" packages. Such agents reportedly arrange incomplete or fraudulent documentation, creating confusion among travelers.

The incident has drawn significant attention on Chinese social media platforms, where many users expressed support for the authorities' strict enforcement of immigration rules.

Comments emphasized that China welcomes legitimate visitors while maintaining firm control over unlawful or ill-prepared entry attempts.

All 42 individuals were subsequently repatriated on the next available flight to India.
